The best two weeks of the year

Twenty-pound-plus Chinook are stacked off the Salmon River and Oswego in 60–120 feet, and the first fish are already in the lower river. Troll the lake in the morning and fish the river from a drift boat in the afternoon.

Fishing license

Everyone 16 and over needs a New York State fishing license, on a charter, in the river or on shore. You can buy one online from the state in about five minutes.
